xquisite releases is proud to present ‘only the gorse blooms’ by Tom James Scott.

gorse is a plant which grows on the moors by the sea in the north of england, scotland and ireland, blooming from around January to June. walking on the moors in January you can feel the bleakness of winter but, like with Scott’s music, the honesty of its bleak beauty is transcendental.

the delicate dissonances of Scott’s piano compositions fade from and into a kind of mist, hugging your mind and accompanying it into an almost psychedelic experience where all becomes blissfully ineffable.

this release was made in Barrow-in-Furness on the north-west coast of england, and something of the sea air has imbued itself. Scott sees it as night music, music for cold winter nights and looking out into the clear night sky; the darkness of the sky as you look out to sea.
